Life on Jefferson Avenue

Living here, working here and playing here all mean the same thing....you've committed. Committed to being a part of Detroit's revitalization, its come back! Steeped in rich history that dates back to Thomas Jefferson and our founding fathers there is one thing our community shows, we are back and we are stronger than ever!

Shelborne Development is owned and operated right here in Detroit, just up the street from our communities and commercial spaces located on Jefferson Avenue. Since the very beginning, we’ve treated every building with historical respect and with great care for the environment and community that surround them.

Living on Jefferson Avenue will mean you have just become a part of something; a come back, a revitalization, you're making history now. Many reminisce of days gone by and their own childhood memories then they return here once again so their family can live and experience life in Detroit, on Jefferson Avenue.

* My parents grew up on the east side of Detroit and then moved up north when they married. I now work along the Jefferson corridor and find myself in many of the areas they remember growing up. My dad used to fish at the end of Burns Street and when my parents were dating, they used to go for ice cream at Alinosi's ice cream parlor, which you can still find in Detroit - I've even managed to pack it on ice and bring it home to them! I've enjoyed watching the facade of Jefferson avenue change over the past 3 years and can't wait to see what the next 3 years bring!

* My Grandparents, my parents, and I all lived on Newport between Mack & Charlevoix. My parents met at the Vanity , the only non-alcoholic dance club in the area! My mother remembered taking the bus to Hudson's, where she worked during the war years. Sadly, most all my touch points are now gone. My block of Newport is mostly demolished, of course Hudson's is gone. Someday I hope to come back for a visit. I hope The East Side is restored. It was a great place to grow up!
